Abstract

The ?-chain in a Ghanaian homozygous for hereditary persistence of fetal haemoglobin was considered to be of the G? type on the basis of the amino acid analysis of ?Tp XIV (?133144) of the Hb F of this subject [1]. Recently, the sequence of residues ?134137 of the ?-chain of this subject was determined and found to contain some alanine at position ?l36. It is therefore of the G? + A? type. A rapid technique for the isolation of ?CB-3 (?l34146) peptides in human fetal haemoglobin for G?:A? ratio determination is described. 1975 S.
